Why the Six Laws matter
The Six Laws of Autonomous Systems offer clear, human-centered principles for evaluating increasingly autonomous technologies before those systems become more deeply embedded in everyday institutions and infrastructure.
The laws did not emerge in isolation. They grew from broader questions about observation, information, memory, identity, accountability, continuation, and the relationship between knowledge and decision-making.
The Foundation, research programs, Chronicle, and Prodigal Brain show where the framework came from, expose it to pressure testing, preserve its revision path, and make future correction possible.

Current working foundation
Shade Tree Science investigates how observations become information, how information becomes memory, and what must remain connected for knowledge and identity to continue.
What turns a difference or record into something contextual, connected, usable, and recoverable?
What must be preserved so another person, system, or future session can reconstruct the state and continue correctly?
How much change can occur while a later state remains meaningfully connected to what came before?
Continuation preserves the ability to become.
Foundation architecture
Select any concept to see its current definition, dependencies, status, and place in the architecture. Reality remains the upper interpretive boundary, not an unsupported starting claim.
Connected research
Tests whether observation requires persistent registration, later regulation, or something more than interaction.
Examines cellular boundaries, sensing, response, and retained molecular or structural changes without assuming consciousness.
Tests when retained recoverable information and surviving structure can be treated as reciprocal descriptions.
Separates an operative carried process from resemblance, copying, archived evidence, or trace alone.
Develops a functional test for the minimum organization required for identity continuation.
Examines why living continuation requires energy flow and transformation rather than unchanged preservation.
Classify the claim. Attach dependencies. Preserve the repair trail. Conclusions change only when contradiction, counterexample, stronger evidence, or a clearer replacement requires revision.
Where criticism can help most
These questions are deliberately unresolved. They are invitations to identify hidden assumptions, relevant prior work, counterexamples, and better ways to test the framework.
Research feedback wanted
The goal of this site is not to prove these ideas correct. The goal is to expose them to criticism strong enough to make them better.
Shade Tree Science is an active independent research project. Agreement is not required. Specific disagreement, contrary evidence, better definitions, and stronger tests are especially valuable.
Which premise appears weakest, unsupported, circular, or unnecessary?
Is there a clearer explanation that accounts for the same observations with fewer assumptions?
What evidence, experiment, counterexample, or comparison would expose whether a claim survives?
Continuity infrastructure
Chronicle preserves how the foundation developed, not only what the foundation currently says.
It retains observations, source trails, claim histories, dependency changes, counterexamples, validation decisions, restore checkpoints, and the next correct action.
Return system for complex work
A recovery model for returning to complex work when memory, context, or continuity has been interrupted.
The model uses checkpoints, relationship mapping, validation, reconstruction, and the discipline of identifying the next correct action instead of restarting from nothing.
Important work should not have to begin again merely because context was interrupted.
Return is complete when enough meaning, relationship, continuity, evidence, and next action can be recovered to continue responsibly.

Why I am doing this
This work is not only about making claims. It is about preserving the path by which those claims were formed.
I am building Shade Tree Science, Chronicle, and the Prodigal Brain because storage alone is not enough. Files may survive while their meaning, relationships, evidence, decisions, and next correct action are lost. I want to preserve enough of that path that understanding can be reconstructed, tested, corrected, and continued later.
The databases, restore files, maps, checkpoints, source trails, and public documents are not side work. They are the mechanism by which the project demonstrates its own central idea: observation can become information, information can become memory, and memory can preserve the possibility of return.
I am doing this independently because the questions matter to me. I want worthwhile observations and unusual ideas to remain available long enough to be examined by someone else, challenged by better evidence, and carried farther than I may be able to carry them alone.

Criticism wanted
The most valuable feedback identifies a specific weak assumption, contradiction, missing source, alternative explanation, or better test.
You do not need credentials. Curiosity, honesty, and specificity are enough. Public criticism will be treated as feedback, not as a formal blinded review.
